General Information & Policies
- Pets - Destin Army Recreation Area is pet friendly. All of our RV sites are authorized pets along with some of our villas, studios and motel rooms. Pets are authorized on our rental craft with a pet PFD. A non refundable deposit is required along with a daily fee. Guests who violate this policy will be charged $100. For the safety of our staff, pets must be caged when you are not in the room. Maintenance and housekeeping services may be demised if this policy is not followed. Pets must be under your control at all times and are not authorized behind other guest’s villas, at the pool, on the pier, laundry or RV shower house at any time. Owners are required to clean up immediately after their pets and are responsible for damages caused by their pet. For more information, view the full pet policy.
- Quiet Time - Quiet hours are from 10pm until 7am.
- Smoking - All government buildings and facilities are non smoking. Please do not smoke in the rooms, buildings, playgrounds or at the pool. Post policy requires that all smoking be done 50 feet away from any structure or doorway. Smoking is permitted along the waterfront area. Guests violating the smoking policy within their guest rooms will be subject to a cleaning fee of $250.
- Housekeeping - Housekeeping services are available daily between 8am and 6pm. Rooms are cleaned daily unless otherwise requested. Cleaning for our guest staying more than one night is done between 8:30am and 5:30pm. Rooms are stocked with a standard daily supply of towels and amenities, if you find that you need additional supplies please notify any housekeeper or call the front desk.
- Maintenance - Maintenance staff is available daily from 9am to 6pm. A maintenance card is provided on the back of your door. Please complete the card including your room number and hang it on the outside of your door and our staff will complete the request as soon as possible. You may also call the front desk at Ext. 0 for further assistance.
- Do Not Disturb Policy - Sleep in and enjoy your down time. Place the “Do Not Disturb” sign in your key slot. When you are ready for your room to be cleaned please put the “Service Please” sign in your key slot. Lodging policy requires that every room be entered daily. If special arrangements are necessary, please call the front desk at ext 0.
- Vehicle Speed - Safety is our top priority. The speed limit is 5 MPH throughout the entire property so please drive safely as many of our guests use the roadways for walking and small children may be on the property at any given time.
- Parking - Parking space is limited at the recreation area. Thus, RV sites are limited to one vehicle plus the RV per site, all others please limit your vehicles to two per unit. Park only one vehicle in front of your unit. Additional Parking can be found near the Marina. Help the grass grow by not parking vehicles on the grass. Park only in designated spaces to ensure emergency vehicles have access. Trailers , Boats and excess vehicles must be parked at the marina. Excess vehicles, Boats, and Trailers MUST be registered with the office and a $5.00 per week charge will be assessed for vehicles over two and for boats and trailers. Please contact the Marina staff for additional information at extension 3130.
- Key Card/ Room Access - Keep your key card secured. Your key card is magnetically coded. Guests are issued two key cards, other cards may be requested at check in. Key cards are required to gain access to the pool. Cell phones, keys and other electronic devices may decode your card making them unless. Keep key cards in the envelop provided or with your credit card to protect them. If your key card is de-magnetized and you need to have your key re-keyed please come to the front desk. Only the person on the reservation may have a key recoded and a picture ID is required. If afterhours access is needed to a room, please call (850) 685-9088. Guest who loose key cards or do not turn them back in after checkout will be charged $1.00 per key.
- Mail and Packages – In the interest of safety and Force Protection; guests are not authorized to receive mail or packages here at the Recreation Area. Guests requiring mail delivery should contact the Destin Post Office at (850) 837-6312. The Destin Army Recreation Area will refuse mail or packages addressed to guests and is not responsible for missing, lost, misdirected or timely delivery of mail and packages. If you would like to send letters or post cars you may do so by placing stamped mail in our mailbox in front of reception.
- Fax Services - Guests may receive and send faxes from our facility. A list of fees is provided at the front desk.
- Damages – Guests are responsible for all contents in their units. An inventory is taken prior to arrival and upon checkout. Any items missing or damaged items are the responsibility of the guest. Guest credit card will be charged in accordance with the list of fees located at the front desk.
- Lost and Found - All found items are turned into the front desk and are held for thirty (30) days after which they are disposed of. Items can be returned to you COD.
The Pool
The pool is open to residents and their guests of the Destin Recreation Area Only. Guests using the pool must be accompanied by their sponsor. Patrons under 12 must be accompanied by a person over the age of 18. All patrons using the pool must have proper ID while in the pool area. A Room key card is required to gain access to the pool area. Pool Gate must remained closed at all times. The following rules apply:
- Children in diapers are not allowed in the pool. Children that are not toilet trained must wear Swim diapers. Children that cannot swim must be with an adult at all times and stay on the shallow side of the pool.
- Patrons must shower before entering the pool.
- Patrons will conduct themselves in a proper manner at all times.
- Obscene language, drunkenness or rude behavior will not be tolerated at any time.
- No smoking is allowed in the pool or on the pool deck.
- Only cans or plastic drink containers may be brought to the pool area. Only snack size food is acceptable. No food or drink is allowed in the pool itself or within four (4) feet of the pool and No coolers over a personal size are permitted.
- Swim suits or athletic shorts with lining or athletic support are considered proper attire.
- Cutoffs, panty hose, tights, undergarments, bodysuits, or cutoffs cannot be worn in the pool.
- Individuals sunbathing may wear acceptable sports attire.
- Reserving chairs, tables or lounges are not permitted.
- Per USAIC Reg 40-S artificial floats, water wings face masks, swimming fins, or pool toys may NOT be used during swimming periods.
- Only US Coast Guard approved floatation devices are authorized in the pool.
- Personal radios with headphones are acceptable within the pool area.
Threatening Weather
Florida is the thunderstorm capital area of the world and the unique environment surrounding the Destin Recreation makes the pool and waterfront area at risk during threatening weather and because your safety is the most important thing we ask that you follow some simple safety procedures.
- If radar, auditory or visual monitoring identifies an electrical storm within ten (10) miles the pool and waterfront areas will close.
- The pool may be closed if thunder is heard, but no lightning is present.
- Once the pool is closed all patrons must exit the pool deck and seek shelter.
- The pool will remain closed for a minimum of 30 minutes after the threatening weather has passed before the pool closure is re-evaluated.
- If a closure due to an electrical storm occurs within two hours prior to closing the pool and waterfront area it will not be reopened until the next operating day.
- Status of the closure can be obtained from the Marina.
